Yang Wanli (1124-1206), courtesy name Tingxiu, pseudonym Chengzhai, posthumous name Wenjie, was born in Xintang Village, Huangqiao Township, Jishui County, and was a famous poet in the Southern Song Dynasty. He lived in the middle of the Southern Song Dynasty when the nation was in danger of extinction. After passing the imperial examination, he served as an official in the local and imperial court for more than 30 years. He was honest and upright, patriotic and loved the people. He always insisted on fighting against the Jin Dynasty that occupied the northern territory, never forgot to wash away the national humiliation, and actively made suggestions for the anti-Jin cause. His political commentary "Thousand Thoughts" bluntly criticized the incompetence of the imperial court and put forward the policy and strategy of rejuvenating the country. However, reality always disappointed him. Because he opposed the power to exploit the people, he was framed. After retiring and returning home, he lived in seclusion for 15 years, devoted himself to studying and writing poems. In his poems, he expressed his praise for the natural beauty, sympathy for the hard-working people, worries about the motherland, and the pursuit of a happy future. He wrote more than 20,000 poems in his life, most of which were lost, leaving only more than 4,000 poems. He is one of the most prolific poets in the history of Chinese literature. In poetry creation, he was unwilling to follow others and created the "Chengzhai style". His poetry style was fresh and natural, which had a great impact on the development history of Chinese poetry and was praised as the "poetry overlord" who changed the style of poetry. His poems such as "The little lotus has just revealed its sharp corners, and a dragonfly has already stood on it", "The lotus leaves are endless and green, and the lotus flowers are red in the sun", etc., are still popular today and are deeply loved by people. In recent years, through the unremitting efforts of cultural workers in Jishui County, more stories about Yang Wanli in his hometown Jishui have been collected, such as "The Settlement of Horses in the Field", "The Birth of the Heavenly Horse", "The Trial of the Vase", "Children and Poems", "Burning Clothes", "Hometown Meat", "Poems and Bridges", "Feeding Mosquitoes with Bare Shirt", "Refusing to Write a "Record"", etc. More than 70 articles. In 2008, Jishui County held a series of cultural activities for the 880th anniversary of Yang Wanli's birth, including the Yang Wanli Story Speech Competition and the Yang Wanli Poetry Recitation Competition, which had a wide impact.
