The legend of Yang Bangyi is a folk literature project in the fourth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. According to the "Song History Yang Bangyi Biography", Yang Bangyi, whose courtesy name was Xiji, was from Jishui, Jizhou (now Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province). In the first year of Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 AD), Yang Bangyi was appointed as the magistrate of Liyang. Because of his meritorious service in suppressing the rebellion in Liyang, he was promoted to the Tongpan of Jiangning Prefecture (now Nanjing), and two years later he was transferred to the Tongpan of Jiankang Prefecture. In August of the third year of Jianyan, due to the relentless pressure of the Jin people, Song Gaozong fled to Lin'an (now Hangzhou). In October, Jin Wushu led his troops to approach the city of Jiankang. Du Chong, the then prefect of Jiankang, Li Fen, the Minister of the Ministry of Revenue, and Chen Bangguang, the governor of Yanjiang, surrendered without a fight when they saw that the situation was hopeless. Tongpan Yang Bangyi, who had no military power, organized the army and civilians to defend the city against the Jin, but was eventually captured because he was outnumbered and the city was broken. Jin Wushu sent lobbyists to persuade Yang Bangyi to surrender and promised him to resume his post, while threatening him with death. Yang Bangyi refused sternly and wrote on his lapel with his blood, "I would rather be a Zhao ghost than a minister of another country." Later, Yang Bangyi saw Jin Wushu's generals who wanted to surrender from a distance and cursed, "If the Jurchens plotted against the Central Plains, how long would God let you? I will cut you into pieces, how dare you defile me!" Jin Wushu was furious and ordered his men to "cut open his abdomen and take out his heart" and die at the age of 44. According to folk legend, after Yang Bangyi was captured, no matter how hard and soft Jin Wushu used, he was unwilling to surrender. Under the constant abuse, Jin Wushu, who was angry and embarrassed, asked, "How dare you, what are you thinking?" Yang Bangyi said, "Don't you know? I have an iron heart!" Jin Wushu shouted, "Then I will dig it out!" Jin Wushu then asked his men to tie Yang Bangyi up and ordered them to dig out his heart. The executioner cut it with his knife, and a heart of iron really popped out! Jin Wushu turned pale immediately, and ordered a sedan chair to be built, and put Yang Bangyi's heart in it, and ordered two soldiers to carry it around the barracks, so that the officers and soldiers could learn this kind of backbone. When the soldiers carried the heart of iron from Yuhua Terrace to Huashen Temple, they encountered a small ditch on the way, with only a few wooden boards on the ditch. When the soldiers walked to the bridge, Yang Bangyi's heart of iron suddenly fell into the ditch. The two soldiers hurriedly went into the water to feel for it, but they couldn't find it after searching for a long time, so Jin Wushu had to give up. Later, people built a bridge here. In order to commemorate this respectable national hero, people called Yang Bangyi "Yang Tiexin" and named this small stone bridge "Iron Heart Bridge". On February 15th of the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang climbed the city wall to look out at the evening. He asked if there were any loyal ministers in Jiankang in the previous generations. Liu Ji then told him about the death of Yang Bangyi in the Song Dynasty. Emperor Taizu sighed for a long time and engraved the "Poem of Praising Loyalty" on Yang's tomb: The righteousness of heaven and earth is unique in ancient and modern times. Born with integrity, and never change your heart in death. Humiliated the barbarians and supported human relations. You should be given a title and be given food in the temple for ten thousand years. In 1957, Jin Yong created and published the martial arts novel "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", and one of the protagonists of the story, "Yang Tiexin", originated from this. For more than 800 years, the story of "Yang Tiexin" has become a symbol of patriotism and inspiration, and has been admired by generations. The name of Tiexin Bridge has been preserved to this day.
