In Chengbu Miao Autonomous County, located at the "Southernmost Border of Chu", the story of the Miao Yang Family Generals is circulated. It is as heroic as the "Yang Family Generals" in Shanxi and is well-known in the Miao area. The "Chengbu Miao Yang Family Generals Story" is a folk oral literature developed and evolved by the Miao people based on the true stories of more than 50 generations of Miao heroes such as Yang Zaisi, Yang Zaixing, Yang Wanzhe, and Yang Hong, the ancestors of the local Yang surname Miao in Chengbu. It has a history of more than 600 years. It is mainly circulated in the Miao areas of Chengbu and the surrounding counties and cities such as Suining, Xinning, Jingzhou and Longsheng in Guangxi. The story of the Miao Yang Family Generals mainly tells the heroic stories of the ancestors of the Yang surname Miao in Chengbu who defended their country, eliminated violence and prayed for the people. There are hundreds of legends such as "Yang Zaisi, the God of Feishandong", "Yang Zaixing's Bloody Battle in Xiaoshang River", "Yang Jinhua Wufan Saved His Brother", and "Emperor Chongzhen Conferred the Title of Yang Family Generals". Its main features are: first, the authenticity of history, which tells the historical stories of the local Miao ancestors from the Tang Dynasty to the early Republic of China; second, the richness of the connotation. Although these stories are short and simple, they are full of the legendary colors and heroic spirit of the Miao people, and contain the moral traditions of loyalty, filial piety, courtesy, righteousness, and faith of the Chinese nation; third, the diversity of forms: it extends from the form of oral inheritance to the performance forms such as rap, Miao style, legend, opera, and New Year paintings, involving almost all categories of national folk literature. The story of the Miao Yang Family Generals records and reflects the history and ancient civilization of the Chengbu Miao people in a relatively complete and vivid way in the form of oral history. It is a heroic epic of the Chengbu Miao people who have no national language but only oral literature, and has important historical value for studying the history and national culture of the Chengbu Miao people. Yang Zaixing (? 1140) Yang Zaixing (? 1140) was a famous general who fought against the Jin Dynasty in the Southern Song Dynasty. He was a Yao from Wugang Army (the seat of which is now Penxi, Xinning County) in the Southern Song Dynasty. Born in Chengbu in the third year of Song Chongning (1104), he lost his father at a young age and followed his mother, Li, to live with his grandmother in Penxi, Langshan, Xinning. He practiced martial arts since childhood and had amazing archery skills. In the first year of Emperor Gaozong's Shaoxing (1131), Cao Cheng led more than 100,000 people and occupied Daozhou and Hezhou. Zaixing became a general under Cao Cheng. It is said that Yang Zaixing was a descendant of Yang Ye, a famous general in the early Song Dynasty. He was a bandit at first, but later became the backbone of Yue Fei's army. He made great contributions to Yue Fei's defeat of the pseudo-Qi and defeated Jin Wushu at the foot of Yancheng, which was known as the "Yancheng Victory" in history.
