The legend of Yancheng is a folk literature project in the fourth batch of representative projects of Changzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. The Yancheng ruins in the Spring and Autumn Period are located in the western corner of Hutang Town, Wujin District. According to the analysis of existing literature and archaeological excavation data, Yancheng should be the site left by the Yan tribe, which was located next to Huaiyi in the early Western Zhou Dynasty, when they were conquered by King Cheng of Zhou and moved south to the south of the Yangtze River and settled there. It is more than 3,000 years old. Its "three cities and three rivers" architectural form is unique in the world, and its size is consistent with the record of "three miles of city and seven miles of city" in "Mencius". More than a thousand precious cultural relics have been unearthed in the ruins, including 4 canoes, more than 20 bronze wares and a large number of original celadon wares and pottery. The legend of Yancheng is a folk story circulated in Yancheng and surrounding areas. It takes the long history of the ancient ruins of Yancheng as the main line, and the origin, form, scenic spots, environment, people, products, etc. of the ancient ruins of Yancheng as the content, showing the strangeness, uniqueness, preciousness, beauty and cultural charm of the ancient ruins of Yancheng. The legend of Yancheng was created and spread by the ancestors of Yancheng, but there is no exact written record of when it originated. In the early Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1368), the Dou clan moved from Guazhou, Jiangsu (now Yangzhou) to Yancheng and settled there. It has a history of more than 600 years. This is also the earliest ancestor of Yancheng with a family tree record. According to Dou Yisheng, a 96-year-old resident of Yancheng, the legend of Yancheng was first spread by his great-grandfather Dou Xingda, and it has been passed down for more than 190 years. After interviewing Dou Yisheng in 1988, Wujin Daily reporter Xiao Fei collected and excavated the legend of Yancheng. After systematically sorting and improving, 16 legends were formed and published in July 2007. Afterwards, according to the main content of the legend of Yancheng, it was adapted into 7 large-scale costume tin operas and a 30-episode TV series. The legend of Yancheng has a tortuous plot, rich content, interesting and euphemistic sound. It integrates history, knowledge, fun and speculation. It is unique, easy to spread and easy to tell, and suitable for performances on various occasions. Various forms of interpretation and dissemination are aimed at allowing people to have a comprehensive, multi-level and three-dimensional appreciation of the ancient ruins of Yancheng, and to show this business card of fine traditional cultural heritage. At the same time, it is also helpful for scholars and experts to conduct relevant research, increase the interest of tourists, and inspire the inspiration of literati. In recent years, with the development and growth of Yancheng Tourism Area, the legend of Yancheng has been widely spread, and has been shown in various publicity of Yancheng ruins on CCTV, Jiangsu Satellite TV, Hunan Satellite TV, Phoenix Satellite TV and Changwu District.
