The Taiping Drum of Banbidian Village is an intangible cultural heritage project at the Fangshan District level. The Banbidian Village in Hebei Town, Fangshan District, covers an area of more than 7,200 mu. There is a site of Wangxiandong Temple built in the Ming Dynasty in the village. The Taiping Drum of Banbidian Village began in the Qing Dynasty and has been passed down to the present day after the Republic of China. The Taiping Drum is a kind of folk dance for the villagers to entertain themselves during the slack time of the twelfth month and the first month of the lunar calendar. It is widely spread in the local area. Since the restoration of the Banbidian Taiping Drum in 1990, several old artists in the village have volunteered to serve as coaches, teaching by word of mouth and by example, and making drums by themselves without getting tired of it. The performance of the Taiping Drum has brought this folk treasure back to life. Since then, the Taiping Drum performance has become an important folk flower show organization in Banbidian Village, and it is performed during the Spring Festival and important events every year. Banbi Dian Taiping Drum combines competition, fun and improvisation, and has a strong regional cultural symbol. It is a typical Han folk dance in Beijing. The uniqueness of Banbi Dian Taiping Drum lies in its combination of drum and dance. When dancing, people combine dance steps, twist their waists, shake iron rings up and down, left and right, etc., to form a crisp sound, and gradually form the performance characteristics of Banbi Dian Taiping Drum in terms of playing drums, steps, formation changes, etc. The performance movements of Banbi Dian Taiping Drum have been discovered and mainly performed routines such as playing round drums, pulling square buckets, stringing flower fences, cross-pushing mills, fighting cocks, lying children, etc.
