Xiyuan Village Shanbangzi Opera is an intangible cultural heritage project at the Fangshan District level. Since the Song Dynasty, Da'anshan Township has formed a unique language with Song Dynasty vernacular as the main vocabulary and very similar to the Tangshan dialect in Hebei. This unique language is like an ancient Beijing "language fossil". Similar to Shanxi Bangzi and Hebei Bangzi, the drama genre, commonly known as "Shanbangzi", is unique to Da'anshan and several nearby towns and villages, and is called the "opera fossil" of ancient Beijing. Xiyuan Village Shanbangzi Opera is mainly distributed in Xiyuan Village and Da'anshan Village in Da'anshan Township, Fangshan District, Beijing. The Xiyuan Village Shanbangzi Troupe was established in the 1830s by Zhang Guopu and others. The actors mainly learn by word of mouth, and are spontaneously formed by the masses who like opera, with more than 30 people. At that time, traditional plays were staged, such as "Red Mane Fiery Horse", "Story of a Heroine", "Condensation Plan", "Beheading the Yellow Robe and Killing the Mansion", "Nanyang Pass", "Four Persuasions", "Xiaogu Xian", "Chuangshan", "Shepherd's Circle", "Taiping City", and "Pictures of Bianliang". After more than ten years of interruption, the troupe's performances were reorganized in 2014 under the leadership of Comrade Zhang Qingcai, in order to pass on the traditional culture, overcoming many difficulties. The actors of the Xiyuan Village Shanbangzi Troupe are all native villagers of the village. Although they are not professionals, they have complete costumes and costumes, and they can sing, recite, act, and fight in a good manner. At present, there are about 30 actors, who have rehearsed the traditional plays "Exploring the Imperial Tomb", "Second Visit to the Palace", and the "Three Crying Halls" in "Qin Ying's Expedition to the West". In recent years, performances of the Xiyuan Village Shanbangzi Opera Troupe can be seen in the Fangshan District Drama Festival, Cultural Weekend Stage, Culture Out to the Countryside, "Spark Project" art performances and other grassroots cultural activities.
