Shanbangzi Opera is a Fangshan District-level intangible cultural heritage project. Luzishui Village, Puwa Township, Fangshan District, Beijing, is located in Puwa Township, which is known as Beijing's Little Tibet. Because it is located in the mountains, it has little contact with the outside world. With a history of more than 600 years, it has nurtured a rich folk culture. Shanbangzi Opera is a unique drama form in this small village with less than a thousand people. Shanbangzi Opera has a wide range of repertoires, up to more than 120, with high-pitched and powerful singing, beautiful tunes, clear patterns, and a long history. It has a history of more than 300 years of inheritance and is a popular local opera. Bangzi Opera originated in Shaanxi. Shaanxi was originally part of Qin, so Bangzi Opera is also called Qin Opera. The generous and heroic folk customs of the ancient Qin formed the high-pitched and exciting tone of Qin Opera, which is good at expressing majestic and sad emotions. In the Ming Dynasty, following the footsteps of immigrants from Shanxi and Shaanxi, the ancient Bangzi Opera was also introduced to Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, forming Hebei Bangzi Opera, which is commonly known as "Shanbangzi" by the rural people. Unlike other types of opera, Shanbangzi emphasizes the local mountain flavor. The Shanbangzi troupe has a history of more than 300 years. It used to be the Wei family troupe. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, the troupe had more than 40 people. They organized to learn and sing operas during the slack season. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was named "Tiancheng Troupe". The former Shanbangzi opera had a glorious history. Because it belonged to the Wei family, it was also called the Wei family troupe. In that era, the Shanbangzi of the Wei family troupe was unique. No matter where they went, there were a large number of opera fans coming to listen to the opera. Once, the Wei family troupe sang all the way along the mountains to the city. After Qianlong accidentally heard it, he was very impressed and thought that such a good bangzi opera could be produced in the mountains. It was simply natural, so he named it Tiancheng Troupe. Because of the wars in modern times, Shanbangzi opera fell into silence for a period of time, but the old people always remembered Shanbangzi opera. As the country has increased its efforts to protect culture in recent years, the unique Shanbangzi opera in the village is also brewing vitality. The elderly who can still perform Shanbangzi gathered together and began to restore Shanbangzi opera. It shows the elderly rehearsing over and over again, gradually perfecting the ancient Shanbangzi opera. Although they are no longer young, their passion for Shanbangzi has never changed. The film shows the energetic efforts of the elderly from an optimistic and positive perspective. Dreams have never been related to age. What makes them willing to work hard for this is the most sincere strength and love from the heart.
