Imitation of antique Chinese paintings Weifang's imitation of antique Chinese paintings were first created by Weifang Arts and Crafts Research Institute in 1973. They were put into mass production in 1974 and became one of the largest special arts products in Shandong Province in the 1970s. Imitation of antique Chinese paintings are divided into three types: paper, silk, and mounted, with themes mostly being landscapes, flowers and birds, and figures. All products from 1974 to 1978 were exported. After 1978, the production of silk-surface Chinese painting screens was turned to, with varieties including four-panel screens, six-panel sitting screens, and table screens. In 1982, Weifang Arts and Crafts Research Institute created the gilded color-filled screen, and in 1986 it won the Quality Product Award of the China Arts and Crafts Hundred Flowers Award.
