The area along the Chishui River has been rich in water resources since ancient times and is rich in crops such as rice and wheat. It is the birthplace of Huazhou Yangko Opera. According to the "Hua County Chronicles", "Yangko" is said to be some folk songs sung by ancient working people to relieve fatigue when transplanting rice seedlings, and it was later called Yangko. Yangko is the chanting of the ancestors when they rested in the fields. After thousands of years of development and evolution, it became a form of performance for the masses to entertain themselves during the slack season or festivals. Huazhou Yangko Opera has a long history. It originated from the "Nuo Dance" in the Han Dynasty and evolved from the "Cuntian Music" in the Song Dynasty. It flourished during the Daoguang and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty. Huazhou Yangko Opera did not have a very complete script at first. Most of them were improvisations by artists, passed down orally, and were only for entertainment. Later, after the continuous enrichment and improvement of the artists, the Yangko repertoire that the masses loved to hear and see was formed. The instruments of Huazhou Yangko Opera are relatively simple. There are only "martial music" such as gongs and drums, cymbals, etc., but no "civil music" such as huqin. They knock and sing, sing and knock, so there is a song among the artists: "Knock fast, run fast, don't knock, don't run, sing." It was not until after liberation that string instruments were slowly added. Huazhou Yangko Opera is a folk opera in a minor key. In terms of performance form, it has many similarities with the "Northeast Errenzhuan", so it is called "Guanzhong Errenzhuan". It integrates folk songs, rap and dance, and is good at comedy, singing and dancing. On the basis of the most commonly used cheerful and lively "6" mode, it absorbs and integrates the melodies of Meihu, Wanwanqiang, Shangluo Huagu and other operas, forming its own rich melody patterns, about forty or fifty. The melody is cheerful and smooth, euphemistic and melodious, pleasant to the ears; the language is simple and natural, catchy, and has strong local characteristics; the dance steps are casual, free and easy, clever and charming, reflecting a strong sense of humor, lively and lively drama style, and is deeply loved by the masses.
