In the Ming Dynasty, people from Luzhou, Anhui and other places moved to Zhenchuan. They introduced the flower drum lanterns there to Yuyang, and integrated them with the local "kick drum", which evolved into the Zhenchuan flower drum yangko with certain characteristics. The flower drum team is generally composed of more than 40 people. The team is divided into two lines, with 2 leaders, one holding a "canopy umbrella" and the other holding a "tiger zheng", which is called "umbrella fire". Then there are more than 20 people dressed as warriors with waist drums on their shoulders, and then there are more than 20 people wearing casual clothes, holding small strings (small gongs) and small cymbals, and at the end there are one person dressed as a "barbarian woman" and one person dressed as a "barbarian man". During the performance, two people are in pairs, or two waist drum players dance against each other, or one player who beats the small string and the player who beats the small cymbals turns around diagonally, and one player who beats the waist drum dances in small steps; or the player who beats the small string and the player who beats the small cymbals turn around diagonally and dance in small steps, and change dance partners flexibly from time to time. Generally, waist drum players do not sing, while those who play the small gong and claps the small cymbals twist and dance while singing local sad songs such as "harming the baby" and congratulations on getting rich. Flower drum players dance in many auspicious postures, including stride, bow step, arrow step, up and down, left and right waist bow, etc. The movements are brave and fierce, the drum beats fall neatly and powerfully, advance and retreat, jump, and each move is vigorous and sturdy, rough and simple, commonly known as the "black donkey rolling" martial style. The "civil style" style has a slow rhythm, is relaxed and natural, and the movements are free and lively. Those who clap the small cymbals and small gongs (female roles) all lean their bodies and step lightly and twist their dances, and their dance steps are agile, cheerful and lively. Those who clap the small cymbals and small gongs (female roles) all lean their bodies and step lightly and twist their dances, and their dance steps are agile, cheerful and lively. The male and female roles often make jokes, which are humorous and interesting. Under the guidance of the "Umbrella Head", the Flower Drum Team formed patterns such as "Snake Coiled Around Nine Eggs", "Big Butterfly", "Small Butterfly", "Scissors Legs", "Twisting Waist", etc., and kept changing their formations. At the end of the Flower Drum Yangko, the Umbrella Head improvised and sang the lyrics of the Yangko, and everyone sang along. The lyrics mostly included congratulations on making a fortune, praying for safety, a good harvest, good luck, etc. Information source: District Tourism Bureau Information source: District Tourism Bureau
