Paper-cutting in eastern Henan is mostly based on the daily life of modern people, reflecting folk customs and sentiments, and drawing nourishment from traditional crafts such as shadow puppets, clay sculptures, puppets, embroidery, and folk printing and dyeing. Zou Suyun, a paper-cutting artist from Mazhuang Village, Huodian Township, Xiayi County, Shangqiu City, is famous at home and abroad for her dragon-cutting skills and is known as the "Chinese Dragon Girl". With her simple emotions, she makes the dragon in her heart interesting, emotional, and personified. Her paper-cutting composition is novel, and her cutting method is skillful, without hooks or traces, and she can cut it at will. In May 1995, the Fourth World Conference on Women was held in Beijing, and her dragon-cutting skills were exhibited in Beijing as a gift for the conference, causing a sensation.
