🎧  Listen to Introduction

It is said that Xu You was a noble man during the reign of Emperor Yao. Emperor Yao wanted to give him the throne, so he fled to the foot of Ji Mountain to farm for food. Emperor Yao then asked him to be the governor of Jiuzhou. He went to the Ying River to wash his ears, saying that fame and fortune were polluting his ears. Xu You had a noble character and extraordinary wisdom, and was highly respected by the tribe. Tang Yao, the leader of the tribal alliance, felt that he was old, so he searched for wise men everywhere. He found Xu You and decided to give the world to him. Xu You thought that he was not as virtuous and talented as Yu Shun, and was worried that Tang Yao's sons would not accept it, causing civil strife and delaying national affairs, and causing the people to suffer, so he eloped to Qishan overnight to live in seclusion. He worked from sunrise to sunset and lived a life of self-sustaining farming and self-feeding. One day, he was grazing along the mountain and came to the foot of the mountain in the northwest of Qishan. He saw beautiful mountains and clear waters, lush grass and trees, and fertile soil. A farmer was plowing the land, so he said happily: "This is a place where cattle are strong and fields are fertile." The farmer thought it made sense, so he called it Niutian Village. Later, it continued to develop and formed today's three natural villages: Shangniutian, Xianiutian, and Zhongniutian. Opposite Xu You Cave is a steep mountain with lush flowers and trees. Standing on the mountain, you can see the winding and undulating Nishan Mountain, stretching for hundreds of miles. Looking closely, the peaks are majestic and steep, lush and green, and very charming. Xu You often came here to admire the mountain scenery and praise the beautiful mountains and rivers in the morning and evening. Because he often wandered around here, people called it Guanshantou. After continuous evolution, it became today's Guangshantou. Later, Tang Yao heard that Xu You was living in seclusion in Qishan, and sent people to invite him to be the governor of Jiuzhou. After the messenger conveyed Tang Yao's will, he earnestly advised him to take office immediately. Xu You thought that he could be a good citizen, but not a high official, so he decided not to take office. He went to the river at the foot of the mountain to wash his ears, indicating that he did not want to listen. This river is now the clear and bright Xier River with sweet water.
