Two ghosts wrestling show

Henan
🎧  Listen to Introduction

Although "Two Ghosts Wrestling" is called "Two Ghosts", it is actually performed by one person. During the performance, the actors wear special costumes, and the props are two exaggerated ghost heads carved from wood, facing each other. The clothes include two cotton-padded jackets and two gowns, and the shoulders and legs made of wooden boards are nailed inside the clothes. The puppets' arms are in a hugging position, and the robes they wear can cover the performer's head, limbs and other parts. There are four ropes inside the puppet, two of which are tied to the actor's waist. The actor holds the board in both hands, crawls on the ground, and wears long boots on his arms. Then the "two ghosts" kick and trip each other with actions such as swinging, turning, rolling, flipping, throwing, sweeping, kicking, blocking, and lifting, and make a fight. The performance can be performed on the stage, on the ground, and some are even performed on the table. In the past, once the Spring Festival came, people in Luoyang could often see this lively and interesting traditional program. Now, because fewer and fewer people can play it, it is no longer common!
