The Yellow River Lantern is one of the traditional folk entertainment forms in Rencun Township, Mianchi County. It was introduced to Rencun from Shanxi Province during the Qing Dynasty. The contemporary people love this activity very much. Because of its large scale, winding paths, and easy to fascinate people, it is named the Yellow River Lantern. The Yellow River Lantern is composed of "cities" made of wooden stakes, columns, and sorghum stalks. There are 72 "cities" when the scale is large, and 16 when the scale is small. During the activity, thousands of wooden stakes are connected in a square as the periphery, and then hemp poles or sorghum stalks are used as lamp posts to hang on the ground. The height is about 4 feet, and the distance between the poles is 5 feet. The lamps are set on the poles. The lamp walls are made of sorghum poles and other objects to form a fence connected to the lamp posts. The lamp walls are decorated with pine and cypress branches, and the entrances and exits are built into colorful gates. It covers an area of more than 40 acres and thousands of lanterns, just like a winding Yellow River is presented to everyone. When you visit, you need to find the traces. If you are a little careless, you will enter the maze by mistake and cannot get out. During the Spring Festival activities, lions, stilts, fire dragons, bamboo horses and other social performance pairs enter from the "Yellow River Lantern" colorful gate and travel through various cities. Especially when the lion passes through the city, it jumps over the middle bridge and performs various moves with superb skills and graceful dancing. Each recreational activity takes 2 to 3 hours. The performance techniques are simple and magnificent, and are very popular among people.
