Huaidiao, a local opera in the Bangzi tune system, is also known as "Huaidiao" and "Zhanghe Laodiao". Because it is widely spread in Zhangde, Weihui, Shunde, Guangping and Damingfu in Henan Province, it is also called "Five Prefectures Huaidiao". In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, Huaidiao had been widely spread in northern Henan and southern Hebei. The military of various prefectures often kept Huaidiao troupes for entertainment. For example, the first Zaoban (criminal police), the second Zaoban (internal affairs), and the Xiyingban (garrison) of Zhangde Prefecture all had Huaidiao troupes, which were called "the upper three troupes". Folk Huaidiao troupes were more common. There are more than 300 traditional Huaidiao repertoires, most of which are historical robe and belt operas. "The Generals of the Yang Family" and "The Litigation between Pan and Yang" are often performed. The performance is complete, the movements are rough and bold, and the style is close to that of Daxian Opera and Dapingdiao. It incorporates the artistic elements of martial arts acrobatics and "Dahongquan", and retains the performance skills of early operas such as "playing with fangs". The singing style is a banqiang style, with four major types: slow ban, 28 ban, flowing ban and scattered ban. The accompaniment follows the early main instruments of Bangziqiang opera, the big string, the second string and the third string. The martial arts field retains the characteristic instruments and accompaniment methods such as the "four major fans" and the "pointed trumpet", which are fiery, passionate, simple and shocking, and very suitable for interpreting and expressing the scenes and atmosphere of ancient wars. The singing style of Huaidiao is upright, high and unique, mainly divided into the first board, the second board, the flowing water and the third board, and there are other tunes. The instruments of Huaidiao include banhu, erhu, low hu, big cymbals, big cymbals and big bangzi. Huaidiao is also known as "big bangzi tune", which comes from this. Huaidiao has a long history, a distinct personality and rich heritage, but its survival status has deteriorated in recent years, the market has shrunk, the team has aged, and there is a lack of successors. At present, there is only one professional performance group left in Anyang County, which urgently needs support and protection.
