Fuli May 8th Festival: A traditional folk festival in Fuli, Yangshuo County. It is a folk art, sports and sacrificial activities organized by folk organizations in Fuli Town around the eighth day of the fifth lunar month of the Chinese lunar calendar. On the eighth day of the fifth lunar month: Each household in the market will tie up a three-foot-six-inch-high vertical lantern and set it off in front of the temple of the father-in-law and mother-in-law in the town. Then, Fuli May 8th (6 photos) will worship more than 100 Bodhisattvas in the two temples and carry them on the street. There are art and sports teams accompanying the team, including lion dance, card lantern, stilt walking, Eight Immortals paper-cutting, gong and drum tent, story stage, land boat, etc. After the festival, there will be folk art performances (singing Guixi Opera, etc.), sports activities (ball games, chess games, etc.), accompanied by various commercial activities. These activities usually last for five to ten days. During the festival (locally known as the meeting period), every family brews bitter melon as their main dish and entertains guests. The origin of the welfare "May 8" meeting period is that people go to the temple of the father-in-law and the mother-in-law on the eighth day of the fifth lunar month to worship the father-in-law and the mother-in-law for many children and peace and prosperity. On the altar of the temple of the father-in-law and the mother-in-law, there is a couplet: The mother-in-law is kind and blesses everyone to have children, and the father-in-law is fair and teaches everyone to be filial.
