The 12th day of the fifth lunar month every year is said to be the birthday of Guan Gong, a famous general of the Three Kingdoms. On this day, tens of thousands of people from Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County and surrounding counties and cities gathered in Gongcheng Wu Temple to worship Guan Yu and pray for good weather, peace and prosperity. Many folk art teams from all over the country participated in the Guan Yu parade, pushing the Guan Yu Cultural Festival to 0. The streets and alleys of the county were crowded with people, and tourists from all over the county and outside rushed to see the grand occasion of Guan Yu's parade. The local people set up 11 sacrificial docks on the streets along the parade route, and placed rich offerings such as pigs, sheep, chickens, fish, eggs, and wine. When Guan Yu arrived at the dock, the streets were packed with people inside and outside. The elders read the sacrificial text, praising Guan Yu's loyalty, righteousness, benevolence and bravery, and praying for good weather, peace and prosperity. The Gongcheng Guan Gong Cultural Festival was originally a folk memorial activity spontaneously organized by the people of Gongcheng to commemorate the famous general Guan Yu of the Three Kingdoms. In 1995, it was agreed to "hold a small celebration every year and a big celebration every three years". In 1998, it was officially named "Public Relations Cultural Festival". Gongcheng County has completely preserved a Guandi Temple that was built in the year of Guimao in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1603), which has a history of more than 400 years. A Confucius Temple is built 50 meters away from it. This kind of architectural regulation of the coexistence of civil and military temples in one place is unique in the country. In 1984, the People's Government of the Autonomous Region listed this ancient building complex as a key cultural relic protection unit in the region, and it was upgraded to a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2006.
