Influenced by farming culture, the Farm Tools Festival is common in many areas of Guangxi, among which the "February 8" Farm Tools Festival in Guanyang County has the longest history. This traditional festival, which evolved from "going to the temple fair", began in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has been passed down for a thousand years. "February 8" originated from Yuntai Temple in Huangguan Town. The temple is large in scale and is a famous temple in northern Guangxi and southern Hunan, as famous as Xiangshan Temple. Master Quanzhen once promoted Buddhism in the temple. Because of his great virtue and longevity, people far and near respectfully called him "Amitabha Buddha". It is said that the eighth day of the second lunar month is the birthday of Amitabha Buddha. On this day, Buddhism is the most effective, and all prayers will be answered. Even the farm tools bought are durable. In the past, on February 8 every year, good men and women from the border of Guangxi and Hunan gathered at Yuntai Temple to burn incense and paper and pray to the gods and Buddhas. It was the time of spring ploughing and sowing, and merchants from all over the country took the opportunity to trade various agricultural tools and agricultural products, such as plows, rakes, shoulder poles, baskets, etc., gradually forming a grand temple fair that combines worship, trade, and sightseeing. The number of believers and merchants from the surrounding counties increased year by year, and the agricultural tool business also prospered. The temple fair gradually evolved into a veritable agricultural tool and agricultural and sideline products trade fair. After the Revolution of 1911, a wave of destroying temples swept across the country, and Yuntai Temple did not escape this disaster. However, the commercial activities on February 8th were still very active, but the commodity trading location was transferred from Yuntai Temple to Huangniuzhai, the seat of the town government, and then gradually developed to the county seat, Xinjie Township and other places. In 2000, the Guanyang County Government officially named "February 8th" as the "Agricultural Tools Festival". On the day of the Agricultural Tools Festival, Guanyang County was crowded with people and very lively. Each household brought their own processed agricultural production tools to the market and lined them up for sale. People bought the agricultural tools they needed in preparation for spring ploughing. Therefore, many people are both sellers and buyers, which is quite interesting. There are so many people that according to the words of the local elders, "Except for those who can't go, everyone in Guanyang goes to the February 8th Festival." Merchants from the surrounding areas also come in droves to trade agricultural tools, carrying them on their shoulders, carrying them in carts, and bargaining in the streets and alleys. Several main streets of the Agricultural Tools Festival are crowded with people, and all kinds of traditional agricultural tools are available, and they are rich in the characteristics of original ecological farming culture, such as wooden tables, chairs, benches, bamboo chicken and duck cages, fish baskets, straw raincoats, iron hoes, iron plows, etc., which can be called the Guanyang Agricultural Tools Art Expo. Each piece of exquisite agricultural tool made by hand not only reflects the traditional production of Guanyang Village, but also reflects the wisdom of the local people. In the evening, almost everyone was smiling and returned with a full load. In the past, the "February 8th" Agricultural Tools Festival was spontaneously participated by the masses, and business negotiations were carried out freely. Since 2009, through the guidance of the government, the Agricultural Tools Festival has integrated the local Yao culture and Gui Opera culture, attracting more and more tourists to visit. In addition to large-scale cultural performances, the Agricultural Tools Festival also holds oil tea competitions, bullfighting competitions, pear blossom viewing activities for 10,000 people, and traditional bamboo hand-woven competitions, with distinct local characteristics. Traditional folk sports competitions such as twisting shoulder poles, skateboard racing, and carrying loads are also reserved. The display of traditional agricultural tools and modern agricultural machinery, cattle plowing performances, and agricultural machinery plowing competitions show the historical changes of agricultural culture. The oil tea competition brings together the long-renowned oil tea masters from various towns in Guanyang. The entire arena is filled with the rich aroma of oil tea. The contestants also prepared a variety of snacks, and the refined oil tea feast made everyone a feast. The bullfighting competition is also one of the classic events of the Agricultural Tools Cultural Festival and is very popular among the people of Guanyang. Representative teams from 9 towns led the bullfighting bulls to participate in the battle in order. The exciting and exciting bullfighting competitions won the cheers of the audience from time to time, and also attracted many photography enthusiasts. Suddenly, as if overnight, the spring breeze came, and thousands of pear trees blossomed. During the festival, the pear blossoms were in full bloom, and the thousands of acres of white pear blossoms created an attractive scenery, which made thousands of tourists who visited the pear garden linger. After thousands of years, today's February 8th is not only a temple fair that displays various agricultural tools, but also a grand festival covering all aspects of politics, religion, economy, culture, etc., and has become a collective display of the happy life of the people of Guanyang.
