The Tiandong Mango Cultural Festival opened in Tiandong County, Baise, known as the "Hometown of Mangoes in China". Thousands of merchants and tourists from all over the country gathered in the old revolutionary base to enjoy the mango cultural feast with local people of all ethnic groups. 2009 was the third Tiandong Mango Cultural Festival, and it was also the largest one. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Xiji, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Baise Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Tiandong County Party Committee. It not only attracted 500,000 merchants and tourists from all over the country, but also attracted foreign chambers of commerce such as the United States and Australia to share the event. Tiandong County has 37 famous and high-quality mango varieties, with a planting area of more than 120,000 mu, an annual output of more than 30,000 tons, and an output value of about 62 million yuan, which are exported to the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Someone has calculated that Tiandong County can provide one mango per person for more than 1.3 billion people in the country every year, realizing the "beautification of orchards and enrichment of homes". Mango is a famous tropical fruit, one of the world's five major fruits along with citrus, bananas, grapes and apples, and is known as the "King of Tropical Fruits". Its production requires special geographical and climatic conditions. The Youjiang River Valley in Tiandong County has fertile land, sufficient sunlight and heat, and the same season of rain and heat, making it one of the most suitable areas for mango cultivation in my country. In 1985, Tiandong County vigorously developed mango planting and established the status of establishing a mango commodity production base in the Youjiang River Valley. The construction of the mango commodity base was taken as a pillar industry to revitalize the rural economy of Tiandong and accelerate the poverty alleviation and prosperity of the people in the old revolutionary base areas.
