The history of cherry blossoms introduced to Qingdao is nearly 100 years old. Most of them are planted in Zhongshan Park, with a total of more than 20,000 trees. The Qingdao Cherry Blossom Festival has a history of more than 80 years. It is held in Zhongshan Park every April and May. At that time, thousands of cherry blossoms are in full bloom on both sides of the park's cherry blossom road, and the flowers are in clusters and as bright as clouds. Citizens bring their old and young, relatives and friends to come to enjoy the spring flowers. People from many counties, cities and various regions in the suburbs of Qingdao also take trains and cars to Qingdao to attend this grand event. The Qingdao Flower Viewing Festival is also called the "Cherry Blossom Viewing Festival", which is mainly for viewing cherry blossoms. It is held in Zhongshan Park from mid-April to early May every year. In the 1930s, the cherry blossom viewing activities in Zhongshan Park have long been famous, and the "East China Sea Flower Sea" was listed as one of the ten scenic spots in Qingdao. The famous writer Zang Kejia once wrote "Qingdao Cherry Blossom Festival" to express his feelings for the Qingdao Cherry Blossom Festival. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Qingdao Municipal People's Government attached great importance to cherry blossom viewing activities, and continuously increased other flower varieties that bloomed at the same time as cherry blossoms. Various entertainment activities such as exhibitions, acrobatics, and art performances were held during the flower fair, which added to the charm of the flower fair. Now every spring, more than 10 varieties of cherry blossoms, such as single cherry blossoms, double cherry blossoms, and mountain cherry blossoms, as well as peach blossoms, peonies, azaleas, and other flowers in Zhongshan Park bloom, attracting a large number of Chinese and foreign tourists to Qingdao to enjoy the flowers. Every year, it receives as many as 1 million Chinese and foreign tourists, and the peak daily passenger flow can reach more than 200,000. Zhongshan Park is surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing the sea to the south, Taiping Mountain to the east, and the botanical garden to the south. Nearly 100 species of trees in the botanical garden are connected with the park's flowers and trees in all seasons. The vast sea of trees is lush and green, and it is the most distinctive scenic spot in Qingdao with vegetation landscape. The park has been in existence for more than 90 years. The original site was the site of Huiqian Village, with more than 360 households of villagers, most of whom were mainly engaged in fishing. In 1898, Germany occupied Jiaozhou Bay and forced the Qing government to lease Qingdao. In 1902 and 1905, Germany purchased all the land in the village, demolished the houses and turned it into a plant experimental field. The forest garden is about one million square meters, and the fruit garden is about 40,000 square meters, with more than 170 kinds of flowers and trees from all over the world, with 230,000 plants. The most distinctive of them are the 20,000 cherry trees transplanted from Japan, which formed the unique scenery of this park, and gradually became a park dominated by trees, orchards, flowers and trees, and was later named "Forest Park". Opposite the gate of the park is the famous Cherry Blossom Road, which leads directly to the zoo and is the main road of Zhongshan Park. Tens of thousands of cherry trees on both sides of the road overlap, forming a beautiful cherry blossom corridor. In the 20 days before and after May Day every year, there is Qingdao's annual cherry blossom festival. Almost all Qingdao people come out of the city, and the cherry blossom road is crowded with people, with the momentum of "the capital city is moved when the flowers bloom".
