As one of the three major yangge in Shandong, Jiyang Guzi Yangge was included in the first batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage list (folk dance category) by Jinan Municipal Government. On December 31, 2006, it was identified as the first batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage by the provincial government. Jiyang Guzi Yangge emerged during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of 2000 years. It is an excellent heritage of the Yellow River culture. In more than ten years, Jiyang Guzi Yangge has won the Outstanding Organization Award, Outstanding Performance Award, and Outstanding Actor Award at national, provincial, and municipal art festivals. It has also performed friendly performances in France, Germany and other countries and regions many times, winning unanimous praise at home and abroad. Jiyang County Renfeng Guzi Yangge is one of the three major yangge in Shandong. Guzi Yangge, with its sonorous rhythm, various routines, rough and bold movements, and highly performative folk art techniques, fully demonstrates the rich connotation of square dance, and is well-known throughout the country and overseas. Renfeng Guzi Yangge has a long history. According to research, it was conceived in the Xia and Shang dynasties, perfected in the Tang and Song dynasties, and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is divided into three major schools: "fast tempo", "slow tempo" and "drama", each with its own characteristics and splendor. After the reform and opening up, Renfeng Drum Yangge has grown rapidly, with dozens of teams active in cities and villages. There are hundreds of Yangge routines, both old and new, reaching perfection. The characters of "umbrella", "drum", "stick" and "flower" are complete, with handsome looks and vividness. They all won the best award in the 14th Folk Art Festival of Shandong Province and Jinan City. The opening ceremony performance of the "September 1st World International Tourism Festival" amazed foreign guests from more than 30 countries. In 1993, it was sent by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Ministry of Culture to Germany and France in Western Europe for cultural exchanges. The cultural exchanges lasted for more than a month and more than 40 performances were held, which caused a sensation and were praised by major media as "the classic of national dance" and "the charming oriental ballet".
