Lunan Flower Drum is a drum dance with unique local characteristics of southern Shandong. It combines the ruggedness and majesty of Shandong men with the boldness and tenderness of Shandong women, forming an artistic style that combines hardness and softness, and is delicate and unrestrained. Lunan Flower Drum was first produced on both sides of the Taierzhuang Canal and is widely spread in southern Shandong and northern Jiangsu. The time of its production is unknown, but it is said to be about 200 years old. This dance performance is popular in villages near both sides of the ancient canal, such as Zhangshanzi Village in Zhangshanzi Town, Nanluo Village in Malantun Town, Beiluo Village in Nigou Town, and Huangzhuang Village in Pizhuang Town. In particular, Huangzhuang's Lunan Flower Drum is the most famous in the local area. It participated in the Shandong Provincial Folk Dance Rehearsal in 1958 and caused a sensation. This dance is usually performed around the 15th day of the first lunar month every year. It is the favorite program of the people during festivals and slack seasons, and it is also the best form of self-entertainment for them. The Lunan Flower Drum is not only distinctive in local characteristics and close to life, which can create a festive atmosphere, but also reflects the character of the people of Lunan and the rich local customs and folk customs, and is deeply welcomed by the people.
