Longmen Township, Huangshan District is a well-known bamboo hometown. Since ancient times, bamboo has been used to weave various simple and practical production and living utensils, which has given birth to many bamboo product artists, and has produced a wide variety of exquisite and delicate bamboo crafts. After the Cultural Revolution, bamboo weaving products are no longer popular due to the impact of market economy and high-tech industries. At present, the only artist who is good at bamboo weaving is Hu Genyan, an old man in his seventies from the Shujia Village of Xiuhu Village in the township. The main bamboo products he makes include: daily production and living supplies for farmers, such as baskets, tea baskets, cool beds, cupboards, baking baskets, various square and round gift boxes, etc.; craft works, such as auspicious banners and wall hangings with characters such as "Fu Lu Shou Xi, Hua Hao Yue Yuan, Song Bai Chang Qing". Longmen bamboo weaving is a kind of peasant art produced on the basis of agricultural society. It is the product of peasant thinking and material concepts. Its themes, content, and artistic forms are all produced to adapt to the production and life of farmers and the characteristics of rural residence. It has a strong local flavor and local characteristics, and has artistic characteristics such as diverse shapes, wide range of themes, beautiful and practical, elegant and unique, and bright colors. The woven Yuanbao blue image is cute, and the female shoe-like castanopsis pattern is very delicate, especially the banner wall hanging he woven, with the seal script font cleverly woven with black and white bamboo strips, which is exquisite and unimaginable, and makes you love it. Longmen bamboo weaving has both important reference value and practical value for studying the production development, folk customs, and ideology of my country's agricultural society. It also has economic, decorative and collection value. It is economical and environmentally friendly, fully reflecting the exquisite and traditional pure folk craft. In 2004 and 2007, Hu Genyan's craft works participated in the Shanghai Agricultural Expo and the Huangshan District Tourism Products Exhibition and received unanimous praise. In 2005, the Longmen Township Government invited him to participate in the first Huangshan Taiping Lantern Festival with the "Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate", and won the third prize.
