Northern Shaanxi Yangko is a kind of traditional dance with extensive mass and representativeness spread in the Northern Shaanxi Plateau. It is also known as "noisy and prosperous", "noisy Yangko", "noisy community fire", "noisy Yangko", etc. It is mainly distributed in Yulin, Yan'an, Suide, Mizhi and other places in Shaanxi Province. It has a long history, rich content and various forms. Among them, Suide Yangko is the most representative. Suide can be said to be the center of Northern Shaanxi Yangko. The rural areas there still retain the traditional Yangko performance procedures, customs and style characteristics. Among them are the "Shenhui Yangko" and "Twenty-eight Old Yangko" of ancient villagers to drive away Nuo, as well as the new Yangko that emerged after 1942. There are often dozens of Yangko performers, and some are as many as nearly a hundred. Under the leadership of the umbrella head, they step on the sonorous gongs and drums, and the loud suona, and make twisting, swinging, walking, jumping and turning movements to dance to their heart's content. The Yangko performances in the Northern Shaanxi Plateau, immersed in the joyful and festive atmosphere, are very popular. Yangko absorbs the artistic elements of local water boats, donkey races, stilts, lions, and kicking the field to form a mighty yangko team. The traditional old yangko and Shenhui yangko preserve the sacrificial rituals such as "starting the field", "visiting the temple", and "worshiping the gods". There are also activities such as worshipping the door (also known as along the door), setting up colorful gates, stepping on the big field, and turning nine bends in the performance. A yangko team ranges from dozens to hundreds of people. The performances include "twisting on the spot", "walking cross steps", "three steps and one jump", "slanting body steps", "shaking shoulders", etc. Northern Shaanxi Yangko is divided into "big field" and "small field". The big field has rich formations, including "dragon wagging its tail", "rolling cabbage", "cross plum blossom", "two dragons spitting water", "twelve lotus lanterns" and hundreds of other arrangements; small field performances include "water boat", "running donkey", "stilts", "overlord whip", etc. It can also be divided into "wenchangzi", "wuchangzi", "kickingchangzi", "uglychangzi" and so on according to the style and content of the movements; among them, "kickingchangzi" is a duet that expresses the love life of men and women, with relatively difficult dance movements, requiring the display of difficult skills such as "soft waist", "two kicks", "three feet without landing", "dragon claws through the clouds", "golden rooster standing on one leg", and "golden hook hanging upside down". Northern Shaanxi Yangge became the protagonist in the new Yangge movement in Yan'an in 1942, and was given a new spiritual outlook and contemporary content, and spread throughout the country with the development of the revolutionary situation. Northern Shaanxi Yangge expresses the simple, honest and optimistic character of the people in northern Shaanxi, and has outstanding historical and cultural value.
