The site contains a vast undiscovered archaeological, historical and living cultural heritage set in a magnificent landscape, including prehistoric (Chrysocolla) sites, hill forts of early Hindu capitals and remains of the 16th century capital of Gujarat. The site also includes remains of fortifications, palaces, religious buildings, residential areas, agricultural buildings and water facilities dating from the 8th to the 14th centuries. The Kalikamata Temple on top of Pavagadh Hill is considered an important holy site and attracts large numbers of pilgrims throughout the year.
