Hui'an women's clothing is a unique women's clothing that is popular in Hui'an County, southeastern coastal area of Fujian Province. It originated from Baiyue culture and integrated the essence of Central Plains culture and marine culture. It has been tenaciously preserved after more than a thousand years of evolution and inheritance. The overall style of Hui'an women's clothing was finalized in the Tang Dynasty and gradually matured in the Song Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, it underwent a relatively obvious change, forming the basic characteristics of strange style, unique decoration, coordinated colors, and gorgeous patterns. At present, the fishermen's daughters in the three towns of Chongwu, Xiaohe and Jingfeng on the east coast of Hui'an County and some "inland" women such as Dongling and Shanxia still retain this clothing custom, among which the clothing of Chongwu and Xiaohe is the most distinctive. The local Hui'an folk song "feudal head, democratic belly, thrifty clothes, wasteful pants" outlines the characteristics of each part of Hui'an women's clothing. The bamboo hat is the most obvious part of Hui'an women's modern clothing. The main color is pure yellow, which is very bright. The headscarf is the most distinctive part of Hui'an women's clothing. Each headscarf is square (about 66 cm), and the colors and patterns are basically blue with white flowers, green with white flowers, white with green flowers, etc. Although the patterns of each headscarf are different, they are all relatively clear, elegant and pleasing to the eye. The hair accessories of Hui'an women inherit the tradition of ancient Chinese women attaching importance to jewelry. The biggest feature of the clothes is that they are "short clothes with exposed navels". Hui'an women's waist ornaments are made of plastic belts of various colors, with a total width of about 7 to 9 cm and very eye-catching colors; the other is made of silver. The main color of the pants worn by Hui'an women is black, which looks steady and generous, and is easy to match with other colors of clothing and accessories. The coordination between the various parts of Hui'an women's clothing in terms of color, style, lines, patterns, etc. is quite coordinated and appropriate. It has both traditional flavor and a certain modern atmosphere. The development and changes of Hui'an women's clothing have their own inherent laws. It is based on adapting to life and labor, and strictly follows its own aesthetic concepts, with the goal of "fitting the body, being fashionable, and following the customs". Nowadays, affected by the changes in lifestyle, fewer and fewer people wear traditional Hui'an women's clothing, and this clothing style with local characteristics still needs to be inherited and developed.
