Huaihe costumes are folklore items in the second batch of representative items of municipal intangible cultural heritage in Huai'an. Huaihe costumes flourished in the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. They are mainly distributed in Jiangsu and Anhui in the Huaihe River Basin. Huai'an City is mainly distributed in Xuyi County. Huaihe costumes are mainly divided into large-collared clothes, jackets, pants, bellybands, skirts, waists, etc. Jackets are divided into cloth shirts and jackets. Cloth shirts are worn inside and jackets are worn outside. Young women generally use floral cloth to make them more fancy. Middle-aged women use Shilin cloth and white cloth to make them generous. Old women generally use upper cyan monochrome cloth to make them more solemn. The pants are wide-waisted and spliced. Generally, they are made of blue-bottomed printed cloth and upper cyan cloth for the body and legs, with all-black cloth as the crotch and three-inch wide white cloth as the belt. Two six- or seven-foot-long belts are made on both sides. The trousers are wide and wide, and the trouser legs are short and fat, so pregnant women can also wear them. The bellyband is an undergarment, made of a one-foot square floral or solid-color cloth. One corner of the upper end is cut into an arc shape, and a two-inch wide solid-color cloth is sewn along the arc as an outer edging, with embroidered patterns all around. Red hair strings or cloth belts are tied at both ends of the arc to cover the neck, and two belts are sewn at the middle corners to wrap around the waist. There is also a roll-up, similar to leggings. The skirt is tied at the waist and does not reach the knee. The waistband, also known as the waistband, is tied outside the skirt to protect the waist, keep clean, and decorate. The Huaihe costume has a strong local flavor, is beautiful and durable, and has a high reference value for studying the evolution of costumes in the Huaihe region. To a certain extent, it has promoted the development and prosperity of the local economy. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
