The custom of ancestor worship (ancestor worship by descendants of Zhuge) is a popular folk activity in Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province, and one of the national intangible cultural heritages. The custom of ancestor worship (ancestor worship by descendants of Zhuge) uses "one item" as the offerings in accordance with the imperial decree, namely "a pig, a sheep, fish, meat, pickled tea, five items in total, rice and flour food, five items in total, one stick of incense, a pair of candles, a piece of silk, two bottles of wine, and three offerings as per the ritual". The main worshippers are Meng, Zhong, and Ji in turn, and must be elders over 50 years old. Large-scale sacrificial ceremonies and welcoming meetings are held every three to five years, and the ceremonies are simpler in ordinary years. Sacrifices are divided into spring and autumn, and the time of spring and autumn sacrifices is different: the spring sacrifice is held on the 14th day of the fourth lunar month in the Grand Hall, and the sacrifice is to the statue of Zhuge Liang working in the fields; the autumn sacrifice is held on the 28th day of the eighth lunar month in the Prime Minister's Temple, and the sacrifice is to the statue of Prime Minister Zhuge Liang. The ancestor worship ritual of Zhuge Liang's descendants was finalized during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. According to the "Rules and Offerings of the Zhongwu Hou Temple" given by Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty to the Zhongwu Hou Temple in Nanyang, Henan Province, "Spring worship is on the second Ding day, and autumn worship is on the 28th day of the eighth month", which is the two sacrifices. Zhuge Village has been using this ritual to worship its ancestor Zhuge Liang since the Ming Dynasty. It was interrupted during the "Cultural Revolution", but resumed since 1993. In September 1996, Lanxi City held the "Zhuge Village Folk Customs Festival", and hundreds of Zhuge Liang's descendants held a grand, simple and solemn ancestor worship ceremony in Zhuge Village. Since then, Zhuge Village has held spring and autumn sacrifices every year, with varying scales. On November 11, 2014, the custom of ancestor worship (ancestor worship by Zhuge Liang's descendants) was approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China to be included in the extended list of representative items of the national intangible cultural heritage, with the heritage number: -90.
