The production of bamboo weaving handicrafts in Zhejiang is concentrated in Dongyang and Shengzhou, especially Dongyang, which is known as the "hometown of a hundred craftsmen" and the "hometown of arts and crafts". Dongyang bamboo weaving is mainly three-dimensional weaving, combined with flat weaving techniques. It has fine workmanship, vivid shapes, elegant colors, and strong folk art characteristics, fully reflecting the style of Dongyang bamboo culture. Dongyang bamboo weaving products can be divided into two categories: one is daily utensils, which are mainly practical functions; the other is three-dimensional furnishings and architectural decorations, which are mainly artistic appreciation functions. From 1958 to 1978, Dongyang Bamboo Weaving Factory was merged into Dongyang Woodcarving Factory. Bamboo weaving and woodcarving were jointly produced, exchanged and promoted each other, and great progress has been made in many aspects such as subject matter, shape, color, interest, and style. Dongyang bamboo weaving is good at weaving three-dimensional figures, animals, traditional bamboo baskets and other utensils. The hand-split strips are as thin as hairlines, as soft as silk, and are carefully woven and lifelike. Dongyang bamboo weaving products are most commonly found in daily necessities such as baskets, crates, boxes, baskets, dustpans, baskets, hats, etc. They are combined with decorative techniques such as hot stamping, printing, and engraving to perfectly display the charm and cultural taste of bamboo, and have high artistic value and folk craft research value. At present, the inheritors of Dongyang bamboo weaving are aging, with an average age of over 40 years old, and the number of young people learning bamboo weaving technology is relatively small, resulting in a lack of successors for Dongyang bamboo weaving, and the inheritance is in trouble, which urgently needs protection and rescue.
