Daoming Town is located in the northwest of Chongzhou, 6 kilometers away from the downtown area of Chongzhou. It covers an area of 36 square kilometers and is known as the "hometown of bamboo weaving". More than 30% of the more than 5,800 farmers in the town are professionally engaged in bamboo weaving. Daoming bamboo weaving is an agricultural industrial belt centered on Daoming Town, radiating to the towns of Jixie, Dongguan, Baitou, and Gongyi in our city. Daoming bamboo weaving has a long history of more than 2,000 years. Especially from the early Qing Dynasty to the present, in the more than 300 years, the bamboo weaving of Daoming Town has experienced a development process from rough to fine, from simple to complex. After the peeling, splitting, sun drying, stripping, dyeing and other processes, each glutinous bamboo is woven through the techniques of weaving, twisting, snagging, inserting, pulling, threading, and buckling to produce beautifully shaped, exquisitely crafted, colorful bamboo weaving handicrafts and daily necessities. Including all kinds of artistic bamboo weaving, such as wall hangings, flower vases, tea sets, cool hats, bamboo bags, antique furniture, bamboo silk paintings, etc., especially bamboo weaving calligraphy and painting are unique. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, children's toys woven by Chongqing won the first prize of Sichuan Industrial Exposition. Later, bamboo weaving artist Zhang Guozheng pioneered the Chengdu porcelain body bamboo weaving technique. Daoming Township is rich in bamboo, and most of the farmhouses are made of bamboo as walls, surrounded by green bamboo everywhere. The bamboo here has long nodes, fine texture, soft nature, and is elastic, making it a high-quality raw material for bamboo weaving. The skilled bamboo weaving artists, on the basis of traditional warp and weft weaving methods, use a variety of techniques such as threading, nailing, locking, wrapping, inserting, and covering, and develop from a single color to multiple colors, weaving more than 800 bamboo weaving craft products. During the Republic of China period, many varieties were added, among which various square baskets were the main representatives. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, its products include nearly 15 categories of various baskets, plates, bottles, lamps, fans, basins, chairs, and paintings, with more than 800 varieties of patterns and colors. Artistic bamboo weaving includes wall hangings, flower vases, tea sets, cool hats, bamboo bags, antique furniture, bamboo silk paintings, etc., especially bamboo weaving calligraphy and painting. Daoming bamboo weaving products, with their novel and unique appearance, are often used as gifts, deeply loved by consumers, famous throughout the country, and even exported overseas. In 1992, Daoming Town was named the "Hometown of Bamboo Weaving Art" by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture. Craftsmen carefully select bamboos that have grown for about three years, and use the middle section with uniform color and no spots, and long and fine nodes; then scrape the green and remove the nodes. Some need to maintain the natural color of the bamboo itself, and some need to be dyed, and red, blue, yellow, black and other paints are evenly applied on the surface of the bamboo tube; then, the bamboo tube is broken into bamboo pieces and bamboo silk with uniform thickness and thickness. The bamboo weaving process can be roughly divided into three processes: starting, weaving, and locking. In the weaving process, the warp and weft weaving method is the main method. On the basis of warp and weft weaving, various techniques can be interspersed, such as: sparse weaving, inserting, piercing, cutting, locking, nailing, tying, and sleeves, so that the patterns and colors of the weaving can be varied. Products that need to be matched with other colors can be twisted with dyed bamboo pieces or bamboo silk to form various patterns with strong color contrast and bright colors. Daoming bamboo weaving has the characteristics of tight structure, strong and durable. The products made of bamboo are elegant and generous. Bamboo weaving is elastic and can withstand a certain amount of pressure. Various bamboo weaving products are not only durable, but also have the advantage of filtering water. Some can also hold items and put them in the pot. It is currently the longest-preserved and longest-lasting bamboo weaving craft in western Sichuan. In the 1980s, Daoming Town was awarded the title of "Hometown of Bamboo Weaving Craft" by the state. The bamboo weaving skills have been passed down from generation to generation for more than a thousand years.
