Tiantai Mountain Buddhist music is represented by the music of the Tiantai Sect of Buddhism and is an integral part of the culture of Tiantai Mountain. As early as the fifth century AD, Zhi Qiye (Master Zhizhe) (538-598), the founder of Tiantai Sect, while forming an independent and complete Tiantai Sect philosophical thought, in order to make the rituals formulated and passed on orally and taught by him meet the needs of doctrine, thus producing the unique Buddhist music of Tiantai Sect. After more than a thousand years of inheritance and development, Tiantai Sect Buddhist music has not only become the representative of Tiantai Mountain Buddhist music, but also influenced early folk drama and spread overseas. Tiantai Mountain Buddhist music is solemn, solemn, elegant and peaceful. According to statistics, there are about 95 pieces of Buddhist songs that can be sung in Tiantai Mountain, including 22 pieces of praise, 39 pieces of morning and evening chants, 9 pieces of repentance, 9 pieces of yoga flame mouth, and 16 pieces of water and land ceremonies (including musical instrument tunes). In particular, "Tiantai Master Zhizhe Portrait Praise" (with music score) written by Yan Zhenqing, a great calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty, is beautiful and pleasant to the ears, and is a precious material for studying Buddhist music.
