Beijing
🎧  Listen to Introduction

Dough modeling originated from folk sacrifices and festival customs, and evolved from "flower offerings". "Flower offerings" are flour foods made of various colored flours with images of immortals and Buddhas, flowers, birds, fish, insects and various animals, which are still popular in the Yellow River Basin. Pan Dahong has liked dough modeling since he was a child. He studied under Mr. He Xiaozheng, a master of dough modeling in Jinan, Shandong. His works are mainly based on images, pursuing the decorative characteristics of folk customs, and like to be innovative, unique and not bound by form.
