Nanjing dough sculpture is a traditional art project of the fourth batch of representative projects of the city's intangible cultural heritage. Dough sculpture, commonly known as dough flower, ritual bun, flower cake, and dough figurine, is one of the traditional Chinese folk arts originating from Shandong, Shanxi, and Beijing. Due to differences in regional culture and folk customs, dough sculpture art with different styles has been formed. Nanjing dough sculpture constantly draws nourishment from clay sculpture, carving, New Year paintings and other arts, enriches its own artistic language, and becomes a work of art that is deeply loved by the audience and appreciated by both the elite and the masses. The dough sculpture works of Qian Cuifang, a representative inheritor, have high artistic value with their exquisite artistic modeling and rich color matching, and have the characteristics of simplicity, boldness, depth, and meticulousness.
