Stilt dance is popular in Beipinggao Village, Yuecun Township, Wenquan Town, Fantian Town, Huangzhuang Town, Wude Town, Nanzhangqiang Town, etc. in Zhaobao Town. Legend has it that a long time ago, there was a severe drought for three consecutive years, and there was no harvest. Thousands of people starved to death. Those who could move went out to escape the famine, and only the old, weak, sick and disabled were left in the village waiting to die at home. That night, an old man in the village had not eaten a bite of food for a whole day, and he was so hungry that his heart was sticking to his back. He was starving, and saw a few people coming from outside the village. These people were majestic and walked to the old man who was about to starve to death, saying: You can go to a place outside the village to dig and avoid starvation. The old man opened his eyes and it turned out to be a dream. He remembered that the person he saw in the dream was no different from the statue of the god in the temple. He was surprised, so he asked a few elderly people to go to the place indicated by the gods, and indeed dug out some red sorghum. The old people were ecstatic and quickly cooked some porridge with the red sorghum, and they ate it one bite at a time. Unexpectedly, although each person only ate a little of the food, they did not feel hungry. The old man then realized that it was a divine appearance to save the weak, old and widowed people in the village. He immediately made a wish to the heaven that if he could survive the disaster, he would rebuild his golden body to pay tribute to the gods. After the disaster, the people who fled returned to the village one after another. They were surprised to see that most of the villagers were still alive. They knew that the gods had appeared in the village, so they collected money everywhere to build a temple. When the temple was built, the villagers made stilts according to the image of the gods they saw. The strong men sat on them and sang and danced to celebrate. In the hope of a prosperous and peaceful country, these activities have continued, and have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. During the Cultural Revolution, stilts were once stopped. After the Cultural Revolution, the villagers spontaneously organized themselves, put on clothes and props again, and picked up this traditional art that was almost lost. Stilt dancers are divided into Jing, Wei, Sheng, Dan, Chou, and all the characters in ancient operas can take part in the performance. The costumes are ancient costumes, and the faces are painted with facial makeup. The stilts are made of solid wooden blocks and are about four feet high. The top is tied to the feet of the people. The top of the stilts is carved with dragons and embroidered, and the bottom is decorated with copper bells. When dancing, it makes a jingling sound, which is particularly beautiful. The stilt dance movements are divided into single-leg jump, double-leg jump, double jump, through flowers, four-person double jump, cross jump, jump while jumping, and various dance movements, as well as upper table, carrying a shoulder pole, fork, knife, flower picking, Yangko steps, etc. The movements are accompanied by lyrics.
