Palm weaving technique
Palm weaving is a traditional art project of the sixth batch of representative projects of intangible cultural heritage at the municipal level in Lianyungang City. Palm weaving is a handicraft made from the leaves of palm trees. The raw materials are easy to purchase. Palm trees like a lot of rain and plenty of sunshine. Most of them grow in the south, and there are almost none in the north. 1. Production materials: Pick fresh palm leaves, process them into dry materials, and then soak them in water to soften them before making them. 2. Production process: The processed palm leaves are used to weave various animals by tearing, pulling, wrapping, winding, and sewing. Its works are completely woven in imitation of the shape and demeanor of animals. On the basis of the past single-belly weaving, it is innovated and multi-layer weaving is adopted. Various large animals such as dragons, tigers, lions, elephants, etc. can be woven with more than eight leaves at the same time, which are consistent with the size of animals in reality. After the work is made, it is first soaked in tung oil and dried, and then sprayed with varnish. The tung oil soaking plays a role in anti-corrosion and waterproofing. The varnish spraying can not only increase its brightness, but also play a role in anti-mildew and anti-moth, and can be preserved permanently. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
