Beijiao Village Drum Club is a Fangshan District-level intangible cultural heritage project and is a folk music. It was founded as a private club of the Chen family in the early days. It has a history of more than 300 years and has been passed down for eight generations. Since 1796, the club leaders are Chen Yide, Chen Yishun, Chen Qinglin, Kui Rongtong, Kui Bingchao, Kui Fuyi, Kui Yongrang, and Kui Heyou. The drum is the main instrument of the drum club. The drum score is divided into three levels, namely the first level score, the second level score, and the third level score, commonly known as the three sets of drums. The drum club has only one set of plectrum score. When the drum is played during the meeting, the cymbals follow the first, second, and third level drum scores to play the cymbal score back and forth. The drum score of the drum club is unique, implying the four seasons of the year, mainly highlighting spring, summer, and autumn. The first level score symbolizes the arrival of spring. When the drum is played, the drum is hit three times, representing the magpie. The climax symbolizes the timely spring rain. The climax of the second level drum symbolizes good weather and good harvest. The climax of the third level drum symbolizes a good harvest. The drum music of Beijiao Village's big drum festival has local characteristics and contains unique folk culture. It fully reflects the cultural connotation of traditional folk flower festivals and is of great value in folklore and art research. The inheritance and development of the big drum festival is an important part of local culture.
