The Baimiao Village Concert is a traditional religious music, belonging to the Sheng and Guan music passed down by monks, in the form of a small band. It has the characteristics of Zen music and folk wind and percussion music in the Beijing area. It has a long history and a clear inheritance vein. The tunes, scores and performance forms are basically well preserved. The artists are skilled in performance and have high historical, artistic and cultural value. The inheritance method of the Baimiao Village Concert is oral transmission and has been passed down for more than 20 generations. It has been completely preserved in Baimiao Village for more than 300 years. The instruments used in the Baimiao Village Concert are Sheng, Guan, flute, gong, cymbals, cymbals, cymbals, drums and other eight kinds. Later, "wooden fish" and "hand chimes" were added to become ten kinds. The score is Gongche score. There were more than 100 original scores, but only more than 70 are left. They were sorted out by old artists based on their memories after 1985, and the rest of the scores have been lost. The main repertoires played are "Jade Hibiscus", "Green Bamboo Curtain", "Five Saints", "Wang Jiangnan", "Swords and Weapons Sacrifice", "Tang Duoling", "Jinran Shendeng" and so on. The biggest feature of Baimiao Village Sutra is that it has the style and characteristics of Zen music. Its music style is solemn, solemn, bold, high-pitched, with distinct rhythm, pleasant, melodious and elegant tunes. It has both the pure and empty religious color of temples and strong local characteristics and rustic flavor. When performing, it is usually composed of 911 people. The performers are divided into two sessions and sit in turn. The front session starts with a small cymbal, and percussion instruments such as drums and gongs are played. The back session is played by instruments such as sheng, pipes, and flutes. The front and back sessions are performed alternately and in turn until the end of the performance. In the long-term development process, Baimiao Village Sutra music has absorbed and learned from many others, forming a unique style, highlighting the style of Chinese Buddhist and Taoist music, preserving the complete Buddhist temple music, and has important historical value. The excavation and protection of Baimiao Village Sutra music has an inestimable role in our study of traditional folk music. During the Cultural Revolution, Baimiao Sutra music was severely damaged and was not restored until 1985. The main problems with the Baimiao Village Concert are that many tunes have been lost; there is a serious lack of funds; the staff is aging, and the performance team is experiencing a lack of successors, and is in urgent need of rescue and protection.
