Qian's Woodcarving Qian's Woodcarving, a traditional art project in the fourth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. The woodcarving skills of the Qian family in Yancheng mainly focus on knife skills. The carved patterns have smooth lines, realistic images, and lifelike, giving people a sense of beauty and high artistic value. In terms of creation, the personality of woodcarving is examined, excavated, discovered, and displayed from the perspective of traditional Chinese crafts. The creative themes are diversified, and some cultural relics, famous paintings handed down from generation to generation, Buddhism and other themes are introduced into the field of woodcarving creation. Seeking the freehand style of Chinese painting and the craftsmanship of woodcarving, and making bold attempts, the content of woodcarving has been greatly enriched, and the scope of expression has become wider. In terms of artistic characteristics, multi-layer stacking carving techniques have been created, and various techniques such as shallow relief, deep relief, hollow carving, semi-circular carving, and round carving have been tried in a comprehensive manner; the sketching techniques in art theory are integrated with woodcarving to make the picture appear elegant and agile, and highly decorative. Painting and carving are combined together, and the freehand woodcarving and sketching are integrated into one. After repeated attempts, I finally found the best combination of the two, integrating the painting language and the sculpture language, and achieving a natural unity of painting and sculpture.
