Xuyi folk ancient music is a traditional music project in the sixth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage in Huai'an. Xuyi folk ancient music has a long history. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Liu Bang and Xiang Yu supported King Huai of Chu to move the capital to Xuyi, and the country was named Daliang. At that time, Chu music was popular here. In the Sui Dynasty, Emperor Yang of Sui went to Yangzhou to see the magnolias and built a temporary palace in Xuyi to rest. He also brought the folk songs of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties here. The princes and ministers of the Ming Dynasty went to the Ming ancestral mausoleum to worship every year, and brought the court music to Xuyi and spread it to the people. For thousands of years, these ancient musics have been active in folk celebrations, sacrifices, weddings, funerals and other occasions. Xuyi folk ancient music is widely distributed and spread in various towns and villages in Xuyi, as well as Sihong, Jinhu and Tianchang, Anhui. Some of them have evolved into minor tunes sung among the people, and most of them are spread in local suona bands. Xuyi folk ancient music is divided into four categories: celebration joy, sacrificial sorrow, dance and pastoral music. There are more than 80 preserved ancient music pieces, some of which are solemn and elegant, some are sad and desolate, some are cheerful and exciting, and some are melodious and lingering. Festive music includes "Happy Spring" and "Green Willows", etc.; sad music includes "Open the Door Big" and "Open the Door Small"; melancholy music includes "Poor Qiuxiang"; pastoral songs include "Gong Chi Shang" and "Shui Long Xi". Xuyi folk ancient music is a precious traditional ancient music document.
