Iron Rubbing Painting
Tieruo painting is a traditional art project in the third batch of representative projects of Xuzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Tieruo painting originated from "iron painting", which is also known as "iron flower". It is a unique art garden that uses anvil as inkstone, hammer as pen, and forged iron as painting. Iron painting has a long history. It was created by Tang Tianchi, a famous artist during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1662-1722), and has been passed down for more than 300 years. Tieruo painting is mainly distributed in the surrounding areas of Xuzhou, with the most representative in Gulou District, Xuzhou City. Basic content and artistic characteristics: Tieruo painting uses hammer instead of pen, iron plate, copper plate, titanium plate, and stainless steel plate as ink, and forged iron into painting through forging, drilling, welding, filing and other technical processes. Tieruo painting has a wide range of themes and rich connotations, including flowers, birds, insects, grass, pine and cypress, landscapes, scenic spots, and various animals. Guo Moruo described it as "using iron materials to create beautiful pictures and using iron will to create a great China." Main value: Iron rubbings draw on the techniques of traditional Chinese painting, realizing the combination of calligraphy and painting art with iron craftsmanship, and have unique ornamental and artistic value.
