Dough modeling is a traditional folk handicraft art in Suqian, which mainly originated in Daxing Town, Suyu District. Dough modeling craftsmen use flour and glutinous rice flour as the main ingredients, glycerin, honey and other auxiliary materials, and use various colors of pigments to mix dough of different colors, and use their hands and simple tools to shape various lifelike works. Dough modeling mainly produces ornaments, pendants, portraits, egg modeling, traditional figures and other handicrafts. At present, the District Bureau of Culture and Tourism has established a dough modeling inheritance base in conjunction with Suqian Technician College. It will be led by Mr. Gao Enkui, the fourth-generation inheritor of dough modeling, and through the cooperation of government, school and enterprise, the dough modeling inheritance base will be built into a service center with three major functions of teaching, training and social services, so that the dough modeling skills can be inherited and developed in a new way.
