Folk Songs (Tongdong Folk Songs)
Tongdong folk songs are folk music widely spread in the eastern part of Haimen, Nantong. They are mainly spread in nine towns and villages in the north of Haimen, including Sijia Town, Huolong Town, Wanghao Town, Shuxun Town, Yudong Town, Zhengyu Town, Baochang Town, Liuhao Town, and Dongzaogang Town, where Tongdong dialect is spoken. The spread area is 450 square kilometers and the population is 415,000. Tongdong area is adjacent to the Yellow Sea in the east and the Yangtze River in the south. It has a developed economy, prosperous culture and convenient transportation. Tongdong folk songs originated from the labor life of the Tongdong people for thousands of years. The tones of Tongdong folk songs are the natural expression of the emotions of the working people's life.
