Dongjiang Qilin Dance Huizhou Xiaojinkou "Hometown of Qilin Dance" Xiaojinkou Qilin Dance originated from the first Qilin Cultural Festival in Huizhou Xiaojinkou during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. In addition to the "Qilin Dance", there are also performances such as Dragon Boxing and Lion Dance. From August 6th to 7th, the expert group of the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Provincial Association for Folklore and Art Circles went to the Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office of Huicheng District of our city for a special investigation. The expert group unanimously approved the application of Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office to apply for the title of "Hometown of Qilin in Guangdong Province" and agreed that the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Provincial Association for Folklore and Art Circles would name Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office as "Hometown of Qilin in Guangdong Province". At the same time, the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Provincial Association for Folklore and Art Circles agreed to hold the Guangdong Qilin Cultural Festival and the Second Provincial Qilin Dance Competition in Xiaojinkou on March 26, 2008. According to the records in the relevant chronicles and the memories of the old people in Xiaojinkou, the Dongjiang Qilin Dance in Xiaojinkou, Huicheng District has a history of more than 300 years. As early as the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Xiaojinkou had already formed a Qilin team to carry out Qilin dance activities. At that time, it was called "Wu Qilin" because there were frequent wars, chaos and thieves. In order to prevent bandits and thieves from robbing homes and harming villagers, each natural village has a martial arts hall, which has a martial arts team and a Qilin team. The young and middle-aged people in each village have learned to dance Qilin and practice dragon-shaped boxing, which not only strengthens their bodies, but also protects the village and the village, and blesses the safety of the elders and villagers. From the elderly to the young children in the village, everyone can dance the Qilin several times. Villagers must dance the Qilin at weddings and festivals to seek auspiciousness. Since Huizhou is located in the middle reaches of Dongjiang River and Xiaojinkou is located on the bank of Dongjiang River, from the Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, Xiaojinkou's Qilin Dance was collectively called Dongjiang Qilin Dance, and it formed its own characteristics and routines, and cultivated thousands of Qilin Dance inheritors. Xiaojinkou Qilin Team has grown from 8 to 20. In recent years, with the in-depth development of Huizhou's creation of a national civilized city and the creation of a cultural city, Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office has attached great importance to cultural construction, and has invested 8 million yuan to improve a number of cultural venues, and purchased equipment and equipment, and built the "Provincial Special Cultural Station" central venue, Hakka Chinese Painting Academy, 7 village-level cultural rooms and 39 group-level cultural rooms; make full use of these cultural venues, deeply explore the culture, literary and artistic teams and artists spread among the people, and successively set up 15 Hakka cultural teams with their own characteristics, including the Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vocal bands, calligraphy and painting associations, chess associations, dragon boat teams, lion dance teams and Qilin teams. The cultural station was awarded the title of "Provincial Special Cultural Station" by the Provincial Department of Culture. In the cultural construction, Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office pays attention to promoting the local folk culture, focusing on exploring and promoting the Dongjiang Qilin Dance, and has invested more than 200,000 yuan to reform, package and promote it. Today, the number of Qilin dance teams in the town's 10 villages (neighborhood committees) has increased from 8 to 20, with more than 200 members, the oldest is 93 years old, and the youngest is only 15 years old. More than 1,000 people have participated in Qilin dance activities. Dongjiang Qilin Dance has also been comprehensively innovated, and its form has changed from one school to a fusion of multiple schools. In 2005, Huizhou City awarded Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office as the "Hometown of Qilin Dance Characteristics", and the Yewu Village Group and the Jiuyi Village Group were named "Qilin Village". The 68-year-old Qilin Dance Master Ye Yangxing was named Huizhou City's "Folk Artist" by the Municipal Bureau of Culture. Participated in the first Pan-Pearl River Delta Folk Art Festival and won the silver medal. In September 2005, the first Pan-Pearl River Delta Folk Art Festival, hosted by the China Folk Artists Association and attended by 9 provinces, cities, Hong Kong and Macao, was held in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. The Xiaojinkou Qilin Team won the silver medal with its unique style and wonderful performance. On New Year's Day 2006, 10 Qilin teams and 30 players from Xiaojinkou participated in the "Light of Civilization" Huizhou Military and Civilian Spring Festival Gala and performed as the first program at the opening. On February 12, 2006, in the Huizhou Lantern Festival Art Parade, the 10 Qilin teams from Xiaojinkou opened the way for the parade team, and the citizens of Huizhou once again appreciated the charm of the Dongjiang Qilin Dance. In May of the same year, they participated in the Qilin Association Grand Exhibition held in Shenzhen City and won the second prize for performance. In June, they were invited to participate in the Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition. On March 26 this year, the first Qilin Cultural Festival of Xiaojinkou was grandly held. In the large-scale art performance of the cultural festival, the Qilin dance shined brightly and was highly praised by Chinese and foreign merchants, citizens and tourists. On June 23, CCTV's "Passion Square" was grandly held in Dongjiang Park. The wonderful performance of the Dongjiang Qilin Dance organized by the Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office in the opening program of "Civilized Huizhou Passion Square Everyone Sings" won rounds of applause from the audience. The Dongjiang Qilin Dance, which has a certain reputation, has also been favored by the society and has continuously received performance invitations from local and foreign places. The Xiaojinkou Sub-district Office has established the Dongjiang Qilin Dance Association to develop the Dongjiang Qilin Dance as a characteristic cultural industry.
