Qixia Folk Songs
Compiled by Li Chaoli Qixia folk songs are an art form closely related to people's lives, which are collectively created, passed down from generation to generation and continuously developed by the people of Qixia in the process of life and labor. In the process of inheritance and development for hundreds of years, a unique singing style with high-pitched voice, free rhythm, wide range and fluctuating melody has gradually been formed. Its main categories include folk songs, minor songs, love songs, yangko, customary songs, labor songs and revolutionary historical folk songs, among which Qixia folk songs and minor songs are the most representative. The themes of Qixia folk songs are mostly about describing love life and praising natural scenery, which are the true reflection of the life and emotions of the working people. The most typical of Qixia folk songs is Yashan folk songs. In February 1963, Qixia folk singer Jiang Yumin won thunderous applause from the audience with Qixia folk songs "Daodaohua" and "Yashan folk songs" at the provincial folk singer exchange concert, and was awarded the title of outstanding folk singer. On February 17 of that year, the "Dazhong Daily" also reported on it under the title "Old Song Basket Jiang Yumin". With the development of the times, the content of Qixia folk songs is constantly updated. The earliest description of love life in Yashan folk song "Hanche Tune" has evolved from "This woman is really praiseworthy, with cherry-like mouth and glutinous rice teeth, small golden lotus more than three inches, two eyebrows curved like the moon, white face and red cheeks like peach blossoms, and it is difficult to describe it with a clever brush. It is not the lathe worker's boasting that Chang'e in the moon is not as good as her" to "Yashan is high, the mountain is green, peach blossoms are blooming and apricot blossoms are red" and later: "Eighteen bends are curved again and again, like a golden dragon falling from Yashan, the dragon's tail is in the colorful clouds, and the dragon's head swings around the mountain" The content of the folk song has undergone a huge change. In addition, representative Qixia folk songs include "Duanqiao" and "Huache Tune". Minor tune is the most popular genre in Qixia folk songs, with narrative, lyrical and rational content. Its lyrics and music are relatively fixed, mostly a complete piece of music, multiple paragraphs of lyrics, and express a central content at the same time. The lyrics are mostly three-three-four sentence structure and seven-character sentence structure. The pentatonic modes of the Gong mode and Zheng mode are more common, and there are also occasional pentatonic modes with a modified Gong or Qingjiao six-tone mode. Representative works include "Daodaohua", "Little Cowherd", "December Minor" and so on. In addition to folk songs and minor tunes, the love songs "Sending Lover" and "Embroidering Purse" in Qixia folk songs, "Every Sentence Double" and "Yangko Tune" in Yangko, "Shangliang Song" and "Riding Donkey to Celebrate Birthday" in customary songs, and "Fighting Hero Ren Changlun" and "Five Continents Song" in revolutionary history folk songs are also very representative. Qixia folk songs are a folk song genre with Qixia folk customs and regional characteristics that gradually formed under a special geographical environment. They have a wide range of themes and unique styles. They reflect the Qixia people's good wishes of being hardworking, simple, loving life and pursuing happiness in the form of folk music. In 1979, "Qixia Folk Songs" (also known as "Yashan Folk Songs") was selected into "Selected Shandong Folk Songs" (published and distributed by Shandong People's Publishing House). In 1996, "Qixia Mountain Songs" was included in the "Collection of Chinese Folk Songs - Shandong Volume".
