On June 7, 2008, the "Xiushan folk songs" declared by Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, Chongqing were approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Heritage serial number 583-84. The source of Xiushan folk songs can be traced back to the Bayu dance in ancient times, which is longer than the history of Xiushan lanterns. It originated in ancient times, flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties, and continued in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. With the migration of the Han nationality, it merged with the local indigenous ethnic groups and promoted the development of Xiushan folk songs.
