Liuqin Opera is commonly known as Lahunqiang, and also has other names such as Lahuqiang and Lahouqiang. It was officially named Liuqin Opera in 1953. It was formed after the middle of the Qing Dynasty and is mainly distributed in the border areas of Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and Henan provinces. There are two theories about the origin of Liuqin Opera. One theory is that it is based on the folk tunes of southern Shandong and developed under the influence of the local Liuzi Opera; the other theory is that it was spread from Haizhou, Jiangsu. The traditional repertoire of Liuqin Opera is very rich, with a total of 180 main plays and excerpts, and 41 continuous plays. Representative repertoires include "Siping Mountain", "Bapan Mountain", "Flower Records", "Fish Basket Records", "Broken Double Nails", "Xiaoao Mountain", "Yanmen Pass", "White Luoshan", "Drinking Noodles", "Little Study" and so on. The singing style of Liuqin Opera is mainly based on the Zheng mode and the Gong mode. The Zheng mode is gentle and lingering, and the Gong mode is bright and vigorous. In the singing of Liuqin Opera, this technique of switching the same main tone mode is everywhere, which is extremely unique in the singing of Chinese opera. The singing tunes of Liuqin Opera include Qiban, Daoban, Laqiang, Sheqiang, Ye Li Cang Hua, Huilongdiao, Siliu Changqiang, Nan Ren Laqiang, Die Duanqiao, Da Pai, Qian Jin Xiao Jie Enter Huayuandiao, etc. Its style can be roughly divided into slow, two-line, count, tight and five-character tight. Liuyeqin, flute, Zhuiqin, Erhu, Banhu, Suona, Sheng, Bangu, Daluo, etc. are the main accompaniment instruments of Liuqin Opera. The roles of Liuqin Opera have their own special names. Among the roles of Xiaotou, Ertou, Erjiao Liangzi, Laotou, Laoguai, Dasheng, Goujiao, Maotuizi, and 0bailian, Xiaotou is Guimendan, Ertou is Qingyi, Erjiao Liangzi is Qingyi and Huadan, Laotou is Laodan, Laoguai is Caidan, Dasheng is Laosheng, Goujiao is Chou, Maotuizi is Hualian, and 0bailian is Baimian. Liuqin Opera is rough and simple in performance, with brisk rhythm and strong local flavor. The posture and steps of the actors clearly have the characteristics of folk songs and dances. In the long-term development process, Liuqin Opera has absorbed the advantages of various sister arts and has a close connection with the lives of the people in the popular areas, becoming a carrier of regional culture.
