Ivory wood carving is an art created by Zhang He, a villager from Angu Village, Xiagezhuang Town, Pinggu District, using carving skills on different materials. He was born into a carpenter family and graduated from the Sculpture Department of the School of Art and Design of Beijing University of Technology. He later worked in an ivory carving factory. In 2010, he became a disciple of Chai Ciji, a national arts and crafts master. He is good at figure carving and is known for his precision, elegance, tranquility and beauty. His representative work "Liang Hongyu" won the 12th China Folk Arts and Crafts Shanhua Award in 2015.
