Fire Tiger is a folk dance form that is popular in Fengtai. It is mainly popular in Shankou Village, Liuji Township and Huaifeng Village, Dashan Town. The formation of Fire Tiger originated from a legend of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. The Later Zhou Dynasty and the Southern Tang Dynasty fought for Huainan and fought fiercely in Shouchun (now Shou County). This war left many legends among the people of Fengtai. Among them, Zhao Kuangyin, a general of the Later Zhou Dynasty, led tens of thousands of elite soldiers to attack Shouchun, causing the Southern Tang general Yu Hong1 to flee to Bagong Mountain, Bagong Mountain, and Liu Jinding, a famous general of the Later Zhou Dynasty, led elite soldiers to chase and set fire to the mountain. The reeds on Bagong Mountain and the banks of the Huai River caught fire, and the tigers in the forest were burned and ran down the mountain. Fire Tiger is derived from this historical event and legend. In the production of Fire Tiger, exaggeration and freehand techniques are adopted. The performance roles include tigers, lions, land gods, and lion leaders. Through the tiger's pounce, cut, sweep and other actions to fight the lion, coupled with music, the scene is fierce, thrilling and exciting. The biggest feature of the Fire Tiger is that it represents the word "fire". It is usually performed during the Spring Festival. The performers wear thick tight clothes and then tie a tiger skin. In particular, at the end, the performers have to jump into the pond, which is to show that the tiger is defeated by the lion and to put out the fire on their bodies. Therefore, the performers have to endure the smoke and fire, and the coldness of ice water in the cold winter. The formation of the Fire Tiger reflects the hard-working spirit of the Huaihe people. Only those who have received special training can perform it. This folk art reflects the historical background and cultural landscape of Fengtai, and is of great significance to the study of the history, culture and social life of the middle section of the Huaihe River.
