The Miao Lusheng Dance is usually performed by 28 people, each holding a Lusheng, playing and dancing. It is mainly performed at weddings, festivals, and major celebrations. It is divided into two-person groups, four-person groups, six-person groups, and eight-person groups at special celebrations. Weddings are mostly played by four people, including wedding songs, wedding songs, wedding songs, wedding songs, and toasting songs. During celebrations, there are happy songs, joyful songs, and toasting songs. When played, the rhythm is clear and the harmony is coordinated. The melody is often performed in multiple parts at the same time, and the expression is very rich. The dancers change their steps, circles, pairs, and oblique jumps according to the changes in the melody. There are usually two Lushengs participating in funerals, and only one person plays each time. There are horse-mounting tunes, coffin-entering tunes, road-opening tunes, and soul-calling tunes. The melody is free and low in the descending tail tone, and you can hear the sense of sadness. The sheng used in Lusheng dance is made by the Miao people themselves. A gourd-shaped piece of wood is used as the main body, and six bamboo tubes with a diameter of about 2 cm are inserted in the abdomen. The longest 100 cm is the alto, 88 cm is the alto, 80 cm and 70 cm are the bass, 60 cm is the treble, and 44 cm is the extra-treble. Each tube has a 1 cm sound hole drilled in it. The mouth of the sheng is 46 cm long, and the mouth is covered with a copper tube about 2 cm. Lusheng dance inherits the culture of the Yanbian Miao people and is of great value to the study of Miao traditional music, dance, and musical instruments. On July 3, 2020, the "Miao Lusheng" was announced by the Panzhihua Municipal People's Government as the fourth batch of representative projects of Panzhihua's intangible cultural heritage.
