Jiajiang Chinese painting paper is a specialty of Leshan, Sichuan, with a long history. It was designated as tribute paper and "paper for literary examinations" during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. During the Anti-Japanese War, the famous Chinese painting master Zhang Daqian came to Shiyan Village, Macun Township twice, and worked with Shi Guoliang (the eldest son of the famous Shi Ziqing), a farmer, to develop painting and calligraphy paper, which improved the quality of Jiajiang painting and calligraphy paper.
